What is Google slides

Google Slides is a web-based presentation tool that allows users to create, edit, and share slideshows. Part of the Google Workspace suite, it enables real-time collaboration, meaning multiple users can work on the same presentation simultaneously from different locations. It supports various multimedia elements like text, images, videos, charts, and animations, making it versatile for both professional and personal use. Accessible from any device with internet access, Google Slides also offers integration with other Google services and the ability to present slides remotely.

Google Slides was developed by Google. It was initially released as part of the Google Drive suite of productivity tools on March 9, 2006. At that time, the suite was known as Google Docs & Spreadsheets, which later evolved into Google Drive and Google Workspace.



Here’s a simple process for creating a basic slide using Google Slides:

1. Access Google Slides

  • Go to Google Slides and sign in with your Google account.
  • Click on the “+” button to start a new presentation or choose a template.

2. Set Up the Presentation

  • Title the Presentation: Click on “Untitled presentation” at the top and enter a name for your presentation.
  • Select a Theme: On the right-hand side, you can choose a theme for your slides or keep the default blank theme.

3. Add a New Slide

  • I’m Click on the “+” button on the toolbar to add a new slide.
  • Alternatively, you can right-click in the slide panel on the left and select “New slide.”
  • Choose a slide layout that fits your content (e.g., Title and Body, Title Only, Two Columns).

4. Add Text

  • Click on the text boxes to add titles and content. You can adjust font, size, and color using the toolbar options.
  • For additional text, click on “Insert” in the menu and select “Text box.” Then, click and drag to create a text box on your slider

5. Insert Images

  • Click on “Insert” in the menu and choose “Image.” You can upload images from your computer, search the web, or select from Google Drive or Photos.
  • Once inserted, you can resize and move the image as needed.

6. Add Shapes or Lines

  • Click on “Insert” in the menu and select “Shape” or “Line.” Choose the desired shape or line, then click and drag on the slide to draw it.
  • Customize the shape or line’s color, border, and size using the toolbar options.

7. Apply Slide Background

  • Right-click on the slide and select “Change background.” Choose a color, gradient, or image as your slide background.

8. Add Transitions (Optional)

  • Click on “Slide” in the menu and select “Change transition.” Choose the type of transition and adjust the speed. You can apply the transition to all slides if desired.

9. Review and Finalize

  • Review each slide for content accuracy and visual consistency.
  • Make any necessary adjustments to text, images, and layout.

10. Present or Share

  • Click on the “Present” button in the upper right to view your presentation in full-screen mode.
  • To share, click on the “Share” button, enter the email addresses of your collaborators, and set    permissions (viewer, commenter, editor).

11. Save and Export

  • Google Slides automatically saves your work. If you want to download the presentation, click on “File,” select “Download,” and choose a format (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, PDF, etc.).
